Skyfund is a holiday budget planner for iPhone. This policy explains what information the app and this website collect, why, who else handles it, and what you can do about it. The short version: we store what you type into the app so we can show it back to you and to the people you share trips with. We don't sell your data, show ads, or use analytics or tracking tools.
Who we are
Skyfund is operated by Gert Alexander van Niekerk, Islands Brygge, Copenhagen, Denmark, who is the data controller for the information described here. For anything about your data, email support@skyfund.io.
What we collect
Your account
You sign in with Apple or Google. We receive and store your email address and, if the provider shares them, your name and profile picture. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email", we only ever see the relay address Apple gives us. We never see your Apple or Google password.
What you enter in the app
- Trips: destinations, dates, stays within a trip, and cover photos you choose.
- Budgets: cost categories, amounts, currencies, whether and when they were paid, and due dates.
- Savings and leave: your currency, recurring contributions, leave allowance and accrual rules, and manual adjustments.
- Sharing: which trips you're a member of, invites you create, and the leave days you allocate to shared trips.
- Preferences: your default budget categories and warnings you've dismissed.
Skyfund is a planning tool. It doesn't connect to your bank and never asks for card or account details.
Photos
If you set a trip cover photo, the app asks for access to your photo library and uploads only the photo you pick. Cover photos are stored at an unlisted web address so the app can display them quickly. Anyone with that exact address could view the photo, so please don't use images you'd consider private.
What we don't collect
No location, contacts, advertising identifiers, analytics, or tracking of any kind, in the app or on this website. This website sets no cookies and loads nothing from third parties.
Why we use it
We use your information only to provide Skyfund: to sign you in, store your plans, calculate your projected balance and leave, and let you plan trips with the people you invite. Under the GDPR, our legal basis is that this processing is necessary to provide the service you asked for (Article 6(1)(b)). We may email you about your account or significant changes to this policy. We don't send marketing.
Who can see your information
People you share a trip with can see your name and profile picture, and that trip's destination, dates, stays, costs and cover photo. Your savings, other trips, leave balance and account settings stay private to you. When you leave a shared trip, you stop being part of it. The trip itself belongs to whoever created it.
We use these service providers to run Skyfund. They process data on our behalf and only as needed to provide their service:

Currency exchange rates are fetched by our server from a public rate service. No information about you is sent as part of that.
We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't share it with anyone else unless the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as you have an account. You can delete your account at any time in the app, under Settings → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and permanent:
- Your profile, email address, savings, leave and settings are deleted.
- Trips only you are on are deleted, with their costs, stays and cover photos.
- Shared trips you created aren't deleted, because other people are relying on them. Each is handed to the person who joined it first, along with any stays you added. The same goes for stays you added to someone else's trip, which pass to that trip's owner. Costs on shared trips are part of the trip, so they stay.
- You're removed from trips other people created.
Deleted data may remain in encrypted backups for a limited period before they're overwritten.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you;
- correct anything that's wrong (most of it you can edit in the app yourself);
- delete your account and your information (you can also do this yourself in the app);
- restrict or object to how we use it, or send it to you in a portable format.
Email support@skyfund.io from the address you signed in with, and we'll respond within 30 days. If you aren't happy with our answer, you can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet), or to the data protection authority where you live.
Children
Skyfund isn't intended for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access rules in the database make sure each person can only read and change their own data and the trips they belong to.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll also tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
